HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to direct it to be notified, that,
during the temporary absence of the Honourable
the Colonial Secretary from the seat of Govern-
ment, the business of that Department will be
conducted by JAMES STUART FREEMAN, ESQ.,
the Chief Clerk.

pleased to appoint

DAVID ROUGH, Esq., Harbour-Master,

to be Acting Emigration Agent for the Port of
Auckland.

Auckland, 27th June, 1842.

NOTICE is hereby given to Purchasers of
Land in the vicinity of the Manukau
Road, who may be desirous of having the posi-
tion and boundaries of their Lands pointed out
to them, that a Surveyor will be in attendance
for that purpose on the days under-mentioned,
viz.-14th July, Nos. 49, 48, 47, 45, 42, 41,
39, 37, 35, 34, and 33. 15th July, Nos. 94,
98, 42, 114, and 115.

Parties failing to attend on the days above-
mentioned, any subsequent application from
them will not be attended to.

COLONIAL BUILDINGS.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, July 4th, 1842.

NOTICE is hereby given, that Tenders will
be received at this Office, until noon of
Monday the 25th instant, from persons willing to
enter into contract to undertake the erection of a
Scoria Building, on the Government Reserve in
Official Bay, intended for a Colonial Store.

Security will be required for the due perfor-
mance of the contract, and no Tender can be
entertained which is not accompanied by a let-
ter from two respectable persons, stating their
willingness to enter into a bond accordingly.

The Bond will be required to be signed within
one week from the date of the notification of the
acceptance of the Tender.

Tenders to be endorsed-"Tender for erec-
tion of a Store in Official Bay."

Payment to be made by instalments as the
work proceeds, subject to the Report of the
Superintendent of Works, or other officer ap-
pointed to examine them.

Plans and specifications may be seen, and
further particulars obtained at the Office of the
Superintendent of Public Works, Mechanics
Bay.

Parties tendering or their agents, are requested
to attend at this Office on the above-named day.
