HIS Excellency the GOVERNOR directs it to
be notified, that instructions have been
received from the Right Honourable the Secre-
tary of State for the Colonies, intimating that
the Department of the Post Office in this Colony,
has been committed to the charge of George
Cooper, Esq., Collector of Her Majesty's Cus-
toms, who has been appointed Deputy-Post-
master-General of New Zealand.
The Department of the Post Office will be
accordingly transferred to the above Officer on
the 1st of July, next ensuing.

HIS Excellency the GOVERNOR has been
pleased to direct the publication of the
subjoined report of the Board of Officers ap-
pointed to survey the Treasury Chest, on the
occasion of the Transfer of that Department by
George Cocpar, Esquire, to Alexander Shepherd.
Esquire, recently appointed to the Office of
Colonial Treasurer.

REPORT.
We, the members of the Board appointed to
examine into and report upon the actual state
of the Treasury Funds, and the contents of the
Chest, have the honor to state for the informa-
tion of His Excellency the Governor, that having
examined the Treasury Chest, together with the
Cash Book of that Department, we find the Ba-
lance exhibited in favor of the Government, to
amount to the sum of five thousand, nine
hundred, and eight pounds, and two-pence,
which corresponds with the Balance exhibited
in the Treasury Cash Book on the morning of
the 16th instant, which Balance, has, been
handed over to the Honorable Alexander
Shepherd, Colonial Treasurer.

Auckland, were advertised for investigation on
the 3rd July, 1841, but the examinations of
which are incomplete. That they will examine
any witnesses upon these Claims during the sitt-
ings of the said Commissioner's Court at
Auckland, on the 13th day of June next, and
following days.

SUPREME COURT,
NOTICE is hereby given, that a sitting of the
Supreme Court for the despatch of Civil
Business, will be holden at the Court House, in
Auckland, on Wednesday, the 1st day of June,
next, at ten o'clock in the forenoon; and that a
sitting for the despatch of Criminal Business will
be holden at the Court House, on Tuesday the
seventh day of June next, at ten o'clock in the
forenoon; at which times and place, all persons
under recognizances to appear either as Prose-
cutors, Defendants, or Witnesses, are required to
give their attendance.
