HIS Excellency the GOVERNOR directs it to
be notified, that the following claims of
land in this Colony, have been referred to the
Commissioners appointed under the Ordinance
of the Governor and Council of New Zealand,
5 VICTORIE, Session 2, No. 14; being in addi-
tion to the claims notified in the Government
Gazette, of New South Wales, as referred to
the Commissioners appointed under the Act of
the Governor and Council of that Colony, on
the 9th November, 1840, and on the 9th, 16th,
23rd, and 30th March, and 6th, 13th, 20th, and
27th April, and in the Government Gazette of
this Colony, of the 18th August, and 12th, 20th,
and 27th October, 20th November, and 1st, 15th
and 22nd December, 1841, and 5th January,
28th March, and 2nd May, 1842.
Parties are reminded, that before such claims
can be investigated, they must pay to the Com-
missioners a fee of Five pounds, as prescribed
by the Ordinance.

WILLOUGHBY SHORTLAND.
Case No. 214 (o). -THOMAS SPICER, of Auck-
land, claimant.
A piece of land, contents not stated, situate
between Wangaroa and Manganui, bounded on
the one side by land claimed by Jamas Bushy,
and on the other side by lands belonging to
Ekiro, running about twenty miles to a place
called Kiuhui and Taputakaka, bounded in front
by the sea.
Alleged to have been purchased from the
native chiefs Kotapowa, Tow Ware, Puatou,
Aepuke, Hare Horgi, and Paaraputete, by
claimant, on the 4th January, 1840.
Consideration given to the natives-£2 and a
fowling piece, as a deposit, the purchase money
agreed upon being £100.
Nature of conveyance-a deed in favor of
claimant, dated as above.
Case No. 373 (g). -JAMES HAMLIN, of Orua,
Manukau, on behalf of the Church Missionary
Society, claimant.
600 acres more or less, known by the name of
Waikareao and Mocatoa, situate to the east
and west of Manukau, near the Awaroa, boun-
ded on the north by Mokarau, Waitaherua and
Waikowatu, on the east by Waikowatu and a
stream of water, and by a wood called Papara-
umu, on the south by the stream of water just
mentioned, Waramatakino, Kakaramiti and
Awamaiti, and on the west by Awamaiti and
Mokarau.
Alleged to have been purchased from the
native chiefs Kaihau, Awarahi, te Waerakau
and others, by Rev. R. Maunsell and
Hamlin, on behalf of the Society, in Sep-
tember, 1837.
Consideration given to the natives-goods to
the value of £21.
Nature of conveyance-an agreement in the
native language.
Case No. 373 (h).-JAMES HAMLIN, of Orua,
Manukau, on behalf of the Church Missionary
Society, claimant.
200 acres more or less, known by the name of
Orua, situate near the south head of Manukau,
bounded on the west by a chain of holes dug along
a ridge of land, and across a valley to another
ridge called the Popopapo, on the south by this
ridge to the Papupa and to the brook Orua, and
a hill called Pakehorokatoa to the water's edge
of Manakau, and on the north and north-west
by the Manakau.
Alleged to have been purchased from the
native chiefs Awaiahi, Ngakainga, Mauku-
ka, Ngauharo and others, by the Rev. R.
Maunsell, on behalf of the Society, in Sep-
tember, 1838.
Consideration given to the natives-goods to
the value of £79.
Nature of conveyance-an agreement in the
native language.
