COMMUNICATIONS having been transmit-
ted to the GOVERNOR, marked "Confiden-
tial," which, not being strictly of that nature,
ought to have been forwarded through the Colo-
nial Secretary, as directed in the Government
Gazette of the 1st instant.

His Excellency directs it to be notified, that
any Letters so addressed, not of a private nature,
will in future be returned to the writer, to be for-
warded through the proper medium of communi-
cation.

ANNUAL LICENSING MEETING.

NOTICE is hereby given that the General
Annual Licensing Meeting for the Town-
ship and District of Russell, will be held at the
Police Office, Kororarika, on Tuesday the 19th
day of April next, at the hour of ten in the fore-
noon, for the purpose of taking into consideration
applications for Licenses for the sale of Fermented
and Spirituous Liquors, agreeable to Act of Coun-
cil, 5th Vic., Ses. II, No. 11.

ment of Foot, dated at Auckland, this 21st
day of March, 1842.

portionate; head, ditto; face, ditto; eyes, grey;
nose, mouth, and neck, common; hair, light
brown; shoulders, square; arms, hands, thighs,
legs, and feet, common.
Town or Parish where born.. Draycot, in or
near Town of Dunchurch, County Warwick.
Former Trade or calling... Labourer.
Date of Desertion..19th March, 1842.
Place of Desertion.. Auckland.
Dress at time of Desertion.. Duck Frock, or
other plain clothes.

REPORT of a Deserter from the 80th Regi-
ment of Foot, dated at Auckland, this 21st
day of March, 1842.

Size......... 5 Feet 9 1/2 Inches.
Description of Person,-make or form propor-
tionate; head, ditto; face, ditto; eyes, hazel;
nose, short; mouth and neck, common; hair,
brown; shoulders, square; arms, hands, thighs,
legs and feet, common.
Town or Parish where born-Staley Bridge, in
or near Town of Staley Bridge, County Chester.
Former Trade-Cotton-spinner, lately em-
ployed as Labourer.
Date of Desertion-19th March, 1842.
Place of Desertion-Auckland.
Dress at time of Desertion-Duck Frock, or
other plain clothes.
