NOTICE is hereby given, that in order to
meet the wishes of those purchasers of Farm
Allotments at the Sale of the 1st Instant, who
are desirous of taking immediate possession of
the Land, a Surveyor has teen instructed to at-
tend on the ground, on FRIDAY and SATUR-
DAY next, for the purpose of pointing out the
Boundaries of Allotments to such parties as shall
produce to him the Treasurer's receipt for the
balance of the purchase money for the same.
Surveyors will also be in attendance on the 3rd
and 4th days of October next, with a view to
give possession of Suburban, Cultivation, and
Farm Allotments, to persons who shall then pro-
duce the Colonial Treasurer's receipt for the ba-
lance of the purchase money due thereon.
Parties having by these means received from
the Survey Department, all the necessary infor-
mation regarding the Position and Boundaries of
their Allotments, will be required to sign a
receipt to that effect, after which all information
they may require on this head must be obtained
at their own expense.

HIS Excellency the GOVERNOR has been
pleased to direct that the following clauses
of the Act of the Governor and Council of New
South Wales, 7, Gul. IV., No. 7, intituled "An
Act for the better regulating the keeping and
carriage of Gunpowder," adopted in this Colony
by an Ordinance of the Governor and Council of
New Zealand, 4, Vic., No. 1, be published for
general information.
All parties residing in Auckland, and having
Gunpowder in their possession to the extent
provided for in this Act, are hereby required to
furnish to the Colonial Storekeeper a return
thereof, on or before the 16th day of September
next, when a day will be appointed for the
delivery of the Gunpowder into the Magazine.
Persons residing at the Bay of Islands are
hereby required to send in to the Police Magis-
trate of that District a return of the quantity of
Gunpowder in their possession, when that officer
will appoint a day for the delivery of the same
into the Government Magazine, ordered to be
erected on Tapu Point.

II. "And be it enacted, That all and every
person or persons who shall import Gunpowder
into this Colony shall, immediately when it shall
arrive in Harbour, report the same to the Collector
or Comptroller of Customs, and also to the Ord-
nance Storekeeper for the time being; and, as
soon as the same shall be reported to the Ord-
inance Storekeeper for the time being, he shall,
and is hereby authorised to grant a permit or
permits to the Importer of Gunpowder as afore-
said, or to the Proprietor thereof, in order that the
same may be deposited in one of the Magazines
belonging to the Government, and the said
Ordnance Storekeeper shall receive the same into
his custody and charge, and enter in a book to
be kept hy him for that purpose, the name of the
Proprietor or Importer, together with the parti-
culars of the packages of the Gunpowder so to
be deposited."
VIII. "And be it further enacted, That if any
person who shall import any Gunpowder into this
Colony, or who shall be the proprietor of any
such Gunpowder, or if any other person or per-
