Auckland, December 22, 1841.
HIS Excellency the GOVERNOR directs it to
be notified, that the following Claims of
Land in this Colony, have been referred to the
Commissioners appointed under the Ordinance of
the Governor and Council of New Zealand,
4 Victoria, No. 2; being in addition to the claims
notified in the Government Gazette of New South
Wales, as referred to the Commissioners appointed
under the Act of the Governor and Council of that
Colony, on the 9th November, 1840, and on the
9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th March, and 6th, 13th,
20th and 27th April, and in the Government
Gazette of this Colony, of the 18th August, and
13th, 20th and 27th October, 20th November,
and 1st and 15th December, 1841
Parties are reminded, that before their claims
can be investigated, they must pay to the Com-
missioners a fee of Five Pounds, as prescribed by
the Ordinance..

WILLLOUGHBY SHORTLAND,
Case No. 239. (e) -EDWARD WELLER, of Syd-
ney, claimant in part
960, Nine hundred and sixty acres, more or
less, being a moiety of a portion of land contain-
ing one thousand-nine hundred acres, situate at
the Bluff, being a neck of land commencing at
Bush Point, to Tavia Point on the north head
of the harbour of Otago, bounded on one side by
the harbour, and by the sea on the other.
Alleged to have been purchased from the native
chief John Towack, as
a free gift, on the 4th of December, 1839.
Nature of conveyance-a written document,
dated 4th December, 1839.
Case No. 240 (h.)-GEORGE WELLER, of Sydney,
claimant in part.
--260, Nine hundred and sixty acres, more or
less, being the moiety of a portion of land con-
taining one thousand nine hundred and twenty
acres, more or less, situated in the Middle Island,
at the Bluff, being a neck of land commencing
at Bush Point to Tavia Point on the north head
of the harbour of Otago, bounded on one side by
the harbour, and by the sea on the other.
Alleged to have been obtained by claimant
from the native chief John Towack, as a free
gift, on the 4th December, 1839.
Nature of conveyance-a written document
dated 4th December, 1839.
Case No. 350. - WILLIAM JONES, of Wangaroa,
claimant.
Half of an island called Tana Houri Nui, situ-
ate at Wangaroa, bounded on the north-west
and south by the waters of the harbour of Wan-
garoa, and on the east by a line running from the
east point.
Alleged to have been purchased from the native
chiefs Paora and Taupai by claimant, on the
28th November, 1838.
Consideration given to the natives-Β£26 in
cash.

Case No. 351.-ROBERT LAWSON, of Wangaroa,
claimant.
100, One hundred acres, more or less, situate
at Wangaroa, bounded on the north by a ridge
and on the south by a ridge running up to a large
rock, called Oakridi, and by two small islands.
Alleged to have been purchased from the native
chiefs Wooderoa, Charles Schanzey, James
Paul, and Tupi, by claimant in May, 1836.
Consideration given to the natives-100 dol-
lars, and 50lbs. powder.
Nature of conveyance-not stated.
Case No. 351 (a.)-ROBERT LAWSON, of Wan-
garoa, claimant.
100, One hundred acres, more or less, situated
at Wainui, known by the name of Raki Foi,
bounded on one side by land claimed by Mr.
Hector, bearing by compass SW. by W., and on
the other side by a Tabooed ground NW by W,
and on the other side SE by E.
Alleged to have been purchased from the native
chief Maddu, by claimant on the 19th De-
cember, 1839.
Consideration given to the natives-a quantity
of goods, value not stated.
Nature of conveyance-not stated.
Case No. 352. - WILLIAM MURPHY, of Doubtless
Bay, claimant.
2, Two acres, more or less, situated on the
right hand side of Browanne creek, and known
as Toherry's Tabooed land, boundaries not stated.
Alleged to have been purchased from the native
chiefs Tyup and Johnny, by James Burgin
and claimant, on the 14th May, 1836.
Consideration given to the natives-a quantity
of goods, value not stated.
Nature of conveyance-not stated.
Case No. 352, (a) WILLIAM MURPHY of Doubts-
less Bay, claimant.
- Four hundred acres, more or less, bounded
on the front by the river Okakinga; on the back
and sides by land marks.
Alleged to have been purchased from the na-
tive chiefs, E Hue, Whatta, Tucka, Mauna
and Noble, by claimant on the 21st Dec.
1837.
Consideration given to the natives,-Powder
and blankets, value not stated.
Nature of conveyance-not stated.
Case No. 352 (b) WILLIAM MURPHY of Doubt-
less Bay, claimant,
400, Four hundred acres, more or less, known
by the name of Pa carrafico, bounded in front by
Operera, on back and sides by land marks.
Alleged to have been purchased from the na-
tive chief Ehui and Etahi by claimant, on
the 22nd Nov. 1839.
