GOVERNMENT ORDER.

ON the occasion of Her Majesty's gracious
will and pleasure being published to the
Colonists that the Islands of New Zealand should
be erected into a separate and independent Colo-
ny, HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR deems it
consonant with the humane principles which ever
actuate Her Majesty in the exercise of Her Royal
Prerogative, to extend to those persons who may
be confined in the Prisons of New Zealand under
summary conviction by the Magistrates, Her
Majesty's Most Gracious Pardon; provided only
that their crimes do not exhibit any peculiar
degree of moral turpitude.

The Police Magistrates of the various Districts
are therefore hereby required immediately to
furnish to this Office the names of such Persons
as may be so confined in their respective Districts,
together with such remarks on each particular
case as they may judge fit for His Excellency's
information and guidance.

IT being desirable that the Accounts of this
Colony up to the date on which it ceased to
be a Dependency of the Government of New
South Wales should be closed at an early period,
Parties having claims for Supplies, or otherwise,
antecedent to the 2nd May last, are requested to
forward their Accounts to the proper Depart-
ments with the least practicable delay, in order
to their speedy adjustment.

GILBERT FRANCIS DAWSON, Esq., Itinerant Ma-

PORT OF RUSSELL:

NOTICE is Hereby Given, that a Store, the
property of the Crown, has been approved
of as BONDED WAREHOUSE for the deposit of
Spirits and other Goods, which will become liable
to the payment of Duty from and after the first
day of July proximo.
