NOTICE TO MARINERS.

15th October, 1852.
HIS Excellency the LIEUTENANT-GOVERNOR has been pleased to direct the publication of the following Extract from a communication from Captain Drury, announcing the discovery of a rock in the Waiheki Passage. It has been named "Sunday Rock," and instructions have been issued for having it immediately buoyed.

"I have the honour to make known the existence of a Rock near mid channel, between the Island Ponoui and Waiheki, Passage Rock, S. 50° W. 1-1 mile; South Point, S. 74° W.; Finger Point, seen just within Kauri Point, N. 11° E.; Thames Point, S. 11° E.
"It is not more than 50 feet in extent, and the shoaler water of from 3 to 4 fathoms around it does not extend above half a cable. There is a deep channel on either side of it, of from 7 to 9 fathoms.
"This Rock is in the direct course of vessels passing through the Waiheke Channel to Auckland, and the soundings on approaching it will not give sufficient warning to avoid it."

as Accountant of the Auckland Savings Bank, vice Mr. KERR, resigned.

TENDERS will be received at this office until noon of MONDAY, the 25th inst., for a PAIR OF DRAUGHT HORSES.
TENDERS will likewise be received, at the same time and place, for a SET OF SHAFT and LEADING HARNESS complete.
Further particulars may be obtained on application at the Survey Office.
