PROCLAMATION.
By His Excellency Lieutenant-Colonel ROBERT HENRY WYNWARD, Companion of the most Honourable Order of the Bath, Lieutenant-Governor of the Province of New Ulster, &c., &c., &c.
WHEREAS, by an Ordinance enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, Session 7, No. 17, intituled \"The Cattle Trespass Ordinance,\" it is, amongst other things, enacted, that \"if any Cattle shall be found wandering at large in any street or public place within the limits of any Town or Village which shall be proclaimed by the Governor to come within the operation of this present provision, the owners thereof shall forfeit and pay for every head of Cattle so wandering any sum not exceeding five shillings, to be recovered in a summary way:\" And whereas a portion of the Township of Auckland has already been brought within the operation of the said recited Ordinance, and for the protection of the public and the preservation of the public streets, roads, and thoroughfares, it is expedient that a further portion of the said Township should be brought within the operation thereof: Now, therefore, I, the said Lieutenant-Governor, do hereby proclaim and declare that so much of the said Township of Auckland as lies within the following boundaries shall be deemed and taken to form the site of the town of Auckland for the purposes of the said Ordinance; that is to say, on the west, commencing at the River, by Hobson Street, thence by Pitt Street, thence by Karangahape Road; on the South by the Kyber Pass Road, thence, in continuation, by a line running easterly to Hobson's Creek; and on the East by Hobson's Creek, to the River on the North; and on the North by the River Waitemata. And I do hereby further proclaim and declare that from and after the first day of November next, the town of Auckland so described as aforesaid, shall come within the operation of the said recited Ordinance.
Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of New Ulster, at Auckland, this ninth day of October in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-two.
