Providing that the whole number of Cattle apportioned should not be turned on the Hundred, those license holders wishing to run a greater number than the apportionment can do so by paying an assessment of (5d.) per month and obtaining the consent of the Wardens.

Henry Matison,
Edward Mayne, Wardens.
Joseph May,

We consider the unoccupied Crown Lands in the Hundred of Howick capable of depasturing eight hundred head of Great Cattle, which may be depastured for the ensuing year by every person holding a License according to the annexed list, containing the name of each person and the number of Cattle he is entitled to run on the waste lands of this Hundred.

In our decision we have not only been guided by the amount of money paid into the Public Treasury, but in addition we have ascertained as near as possible the quantity of land fenced, the quantity of land under cultivation, and as near as possible the amount of money expended in building and other improvements on the lands occupied by persons holding Depasturing Licences in this Hundred.

It was also resolved that Capt. Alexander Macdonald be appointed to act as Treasurer and Secretary to the Wardens.

We have, &c.,

A. MACDONALD,
B. O'HARA,
P. SEARLES.
