INFORMATION having been received in the Colony of the Death of Her Majesty the Queen Dowager, and the Earl Marshal of England having, in pursuance of the commands of Her Majesty the Queen, given notice that, upon the melancholy occasion of the death of Her Majesty the Queen Dowager, all persons do put themselves into deep mourning; His Excellency the Governor invites the Civil Officers of the Government, and all others Her Majesty’s subjects in the Colony whose circumstances and situation will enable them to do so, to put themselves in decent mourning for ten days commencing on Sunday, the 28th instant, as a tribute of respect for the exalted piety and unfeigned humility which distinguished the character of the illustrious deceased.
As a further mark of respect, His Excellency directs that the Union Flags at the several Government stations, be hoisted half-mast high from 8 a.m., on Sunday next, until sunset.
