NOTIONS TO ROAD PARTIES.

Colonial Secretary’s Office,
Auckland, March 16th, 1849.

TENDERS will be received at this Office, until noon, on Thursday, the 22nd inst., for the supply of Rations on the undermentioned scale, for Natives employed on the public Roads, for the period commencing on 1st April, and ending 31st September, 1849.

The Daily ration for each man to consist of—

  • 1lb Fresh Pork
  • 1 ½ lb Flour or Bread, and
  • 12 oz. Rice, or 2lbs. Potatoes.

The Flour or Bread to be of the best quality.

The Rations must be delivered by the Contractor at such places as may be indicated by the Superintendent of Roads, before the hour of noon, on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday in each week.

The number of Natives employed will vary from three to four hundred, and any additional information which may be required respecting terms of the Contract, etc., together with forms of Tender, may be obtained on application to the Superintendent of Roads, at the Office of the Surveyor General.

Security will be required for the due performance of the Contract, and the Tenders must be accompanied by a notification of consent of the parties proposed as Sureties.

The Tenders to be in duplicate, sealed and endorsed, “Tender for Rationing Road Parties.”
