PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency Major-General George Dean Pitt, Knight of the Royal Hanoverian Guelphic Order, Lieutenant-Governor of the Province of New Ulster, &c. &c. &c.

WHEREAS by a Commission under the Public Seal of the General Government of New Zealand, bearing date the 3rd day of January, one thousand eight hundred and forty-eight, the Governor-in-Chief of New Zealand, pursuant to the authority vested in him in that behalf, by certain Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom, bearing date the twenty-third day of December, one thousand eight hundred and forty-six, hath been pleased, in the name and on the behalf of her Majesty Queen Victoria, to appoint me, George Dean Pitt, to be Lieutenant Governor of the Province of New Ulster, during the absence from the said Province of the Governor-in-Chief of New Zealand, and of the person appointed by Her Majesty, by a Commission, under the Royal Signet and Sign Manual, to be Lieutenant-Governor of the said Province.

Now, therefore, I, George Dean Pitt, do hereby proclaim and declare, that I have this day taken the prescribed oaths, and assumed the administration of the Government of the said Province of New Ulster, accordingly, and I hereby call upon the Inhabitants of the said Province to be aiding and assisting me therein.

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of New Ulster, at Government House, Auckland, this fourteenth day of February, in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-eight.

TENDERS FOR HOSPITAL STORES.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, February 14th, 1848.

SEALED Tenders, in duplicate, will be received at this Office, until noon of Friday, the 18th instant, from parties desirous of furnishing the undermentioned articles, for the service of the General Hospital, during the six calendar months commencing Monday the 21st instant. The articles to be delivered at the Hospital at the expense of the contractor.

Fresh Beef or Mutton
Pork, (for Natives)
Fine Bread
Potatoes
Tea and Sugar
Oatmeal
Arrowroot
Sago
Rice
Salt
Soap
Mixed Vegetables
