Esquire, Governor-in-Chief, in
and over the Islands of New Zealand, and Governor of the
Provinces of New Ulster and New
Munster, and Vice Admiral of
the same, &c., &c.
WHEREAS the undermentioned Ordinance,
enacted by the Lieutenant Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and
consent of the Legislative Council thereof,
was passed in the tenth year of the reign of
Her Majesty Queen Victoria, viz.—
No. 4. “An Ordinance to regulate the
appointment and the duties of Sheriffs in the
Colony of New Zealand.” (12th October, 1846.)
Which Ordinance having been by the Right
Honorable Earl Grey, one of Her Majesty’s
principal Secretaries of State, laid before the
Queen, Her Majesty has been graciously pleased
to confirm and allow the same.
Now therefore I, the Governor-in-Chief, do
hereby proclaim and make known to all whom
it may concern, that Her Majesty has been
graciously pleased to confirm and allow the
before-mentioned Ordinance.
Given under my hand, and issued
under the Public Seal of the
Islands of New Zealand, at
Government House at Auckland,
in the Province of New
Ulster, this tenth day of May,
in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight

PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the undermentioned Ordinance,
enacted by the Lieutenant Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and
consent of the Legislative Council thereof,
was passed in the tenth year of the reign of
Her Majesty Queen Victoria, viz.—
No. 10. “An Ordinance for establishing
Standard Weights and Measures, and for the
prevention of the use of such as are false and
deficient.” (26th October, 1846.)
Which Ordinance having been by the Right
Honorable Earl Grey, one of Her Majesty’s
principal Secretaries of State, laid before the
Queen, Her Majesty has been graciously pleased
to confirm and allow the same.
Now therefore I, the Governor-in-Chief, do
hereby proclaim and make known to all whom
it may concern, that Her Majesty has been
graciously pleased to confirm and allow the
before-mentioned Ordinance; and further to
allow that the provisions thereof should equally
apply to the Weights and Measures used by
the Customs, and others Her Majesty’s Revenue
officers within the Colony.

POUND.
Colonial Secretary’s Office,
Auckland, 13th May, 1848.
NOTICE is hereby given, that a Pound has
been erected on the Western side of
Queen Street, in the Town of Auckland, on Lots
2 & 3, of Section 15; and that in conformity
with the “Impounding Ordinance,” 11 Vict.,
Sess. 8, No. 6, His Excellency the Governor
has been pleased to appoint the same to be the
Public Pound for the Town of Auckland, as
the adjoining district, lying between the portage
at the head of the Waitemata and Waihu
Creeks, and the portage between the Tamaki
and Manukau, at Otahuhu.
