Nov. 5. Rings. Mr. Ring, A. McGregor, and C. Heaphy. Removing “Tom” to upper bar, excavating channel, and setting “Tom.” Too much rain for effective working.
C. Ring and W. McGregor. Making a new “Long Tom,” much rain.
Coolaban. Mr. Coolahan. Making troughs, 3 Natives carrying them up Fern Saw Mill.
J. Leary, J. Meale, and W. Nicholas. Working with “Long Tom,” up tributary. 3 3 1-6 oz.
Messrs. Vaile, (3 in party.) Arrived with a cradle and 2 3 1-6 oz. Produced some good particles of gold from near surface.
Mr. Lander Arrived and washed some gold. Did not report having found anything save specks. Found some grains.

Messrs. Heale and Whitaker arrived.
Mr. McLean and party arrived.
Messrs. De Thierry Reported by letter from Waioa R. having found gold there.
