Colonial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, 28th September, 1852.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that Pounds have been erected at Lyttelton and Christchurch; and that in conformity with the "Impounding Ordinance," 11th Vic. Session 8, No. 6, His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint the same to be Public Pounds for the purposes of the said Ordinance.

Notice is further given, that

MR. HENRY W. READ, and
MR. JOHN J. HARRIS,

have been appointed to the charge of the said pounds, the former at Lyttelton, and the latter at Christchurch.

HIS EXCELLENCY the Governor has been pleased to appoint

JOHN ELISHA SMITH, ESQUIRE,

to be Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court, and Deputy Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages, for the District of Wellington.

The appointment to bear date from the 27th instant.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency SIR GEORGE GREY; a Knight Commander of the most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor & Commander-in-Chief, in and over the Islands of New Zealand, and Governor of the Provinces of New Ulster and New Munster, and Vice Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

I, THE GOVERNOR of the Province of New Munster, Do HEREBY PROCLAIM, that at 12 o’clock at Noon, on Saturday the twenty-third day of October, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-two, the Sub Treasurer will put up to Auction, at the Crown Land Office, Nelson, the undermentioned Allotments of Land, hereby declared to be within the limits of the Settlement.

Immediate payment in Cash to be an indispensable condition of Sale.
