Governor of New Zealand, by and with the advice of the Legislative Council thereof, Session 7, No. 17, intituled "An Ordinance to repeal the Cattle Trespass Ordinance, and the Cattle Trespass Amendment Ordinance, and to provide for the summary recovery of compensation for damage done by Cattle Trespassing," by the fourth clause whereof, it is declared that "if any Cattle shall be found wandering at large in any Street or Public place, within the limits of any Town or Village, which shall be proclaimed by the Governor to come within the operation of this present provision, the owners thereof shall forfeit and pay for every head of cattle so wandering, any sum not exceeding five shillings, to be recovered in a summary way :"

And whereas, a Proclamation bearing date the 29th day of May 1850, was issued by the Lieutenant-Governor of New Munster bringing the Town of Lyttelton, as then defined, within the operation of the said provision :

And whereas, it is expedient to extend the operation of the same to the Boundaries hereinafter proclaimed :

And whereas, by a certain other Ordinance enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor of the Province of New Munster, by and with the advice of the Legislative Council thereof, Session I, No. 11, intituled, "An Ordinance to abate the Dog Nuisance," it is provided that "upon the requisition of the majority of the Magistrates of any district, the Lieutenant-Governor may proclaim the said Ordinance to be in operation :"

And whereas, with respect to the Ordinance last aforesaid, such requisition has been made by the majority of the Magistrates of the district of Canterbury :

Now therefore, I, the Governor of the Province of New Munster aforesaid, in pursuance of the authority by the said in part recited Letters Patent and Ordinances in me vested, Do hereby revoke the aforesaid Proclamation of the 29th day of May, 1850. And I do hereby proclaim and declare that the limits of the Towns of Lyttelton and Christchurch in the District of Canterbury, shall be such respectively as are described and delineated in the last published Maps of the Canterbury Association :

And I hereby further proclaim and declare that the provisions of the aforesaid Ordinance for imposing a Tax upon Raupo Houses, shall from and after the First day of November, 1852, be in force within the said Towns of Lyttelton and Christchurch so limited as last aforesaid.

And that the said Town of Lyttelton within the limits last aforesaid, shall from and after the First day of June, 1852, come within the operation of the hereinbefore recited clause of the said Ordinance to Repeal the Cattle Trespass Ordinance, &c.

And I further proclaim and declare that the hereinbefore in part recited Ordinance, to abate the Dog Nuisance, shall, from and after the First day of June 1852, be in operation within the said Towns of Lyttelton and Christchurch so limited as last aforesaid :

This Proclamation shall take effect from and after the fifteenth day of June 1852.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of New Munster, in the Islands of New Zealand, at Government House, at Wellington, this thirteenth day of May, in the year of Our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and fifty-two.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the REVEREND DECIMUS DOLAMORE, of the Baptist Society, Nelson, and the REVEREND WILLIAM DRON, of the Free Church of Scotland at the Hutt, have been duly enrolled as "Officiating Ministers," under the Marriage and Registration Ordinances, Sess. 8 Nos. 7 & 8 and Sess. 11 No. 7.

HIS EXCELLENCY the Governor directs it to be notified, that the following Schedules of Rates and Charges for Food estimated, according to the provisions of the 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th clauses of the "Ordinance to authorize and regulate the Impounding of Cattle," Session VIII. No. 6, at a Special Meeting of the Magistrates of the Town of Christchurch in the Canterbury Settlement, have been allowed and confirmed.
