His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor and the members as on Wednesday. Also Mr. Cautley.

The Council met pursuant to adjournment. The Rev. the Colonial Chaplain read prayers.

The minutes of last meeting read and confirmed.

The Attorney General of New Zealand moved the order of the day for the second reading of Crown Lands Amendment Bill.

Motion seconded by the Attorney General of New Munster and adopted.

Bill read a second time accordingly.

On the motion of the Attorney General of New Zealand Council in committee on this Bill,

Title, preamble and clauses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 read, amended, and agreed to, when, on the motion of Mr. Cautley, Council resumed.

On the motion of Mr. Bell, Council in committee on Building Societies Bill, when remaining clauses with schedules read, amended, and agreed to.

On the motion of Mr. Bell Council resumed.

Mr. Bell gave notice that on Tuesday next he should ask—

Whether the Land Fund Appropriation Ordinance be not repugnant to the Act 10 and 11 Vic. c. CXII, intituled an Act to promote colonization to New Zealand and to authorize a loan to the New Zealand Company.

The Colonial Treasurer gave notice that on Tuesday next he should move the third reading of the Marriage Amendment Ordinance.

The Colonial Secretary of New Munster gave notice that on Tuesday next he should move the third reading of Census Ordinance, also the third reading of Naturalization Ordinance.

The Colonial Secretary of New Zealand gave notice that on Tuesday next he should move for certain returns, as follows:—

Comparative statement of the European population of the principal districts of New Zealand, according to returns drawn up at the end of each of the years 1848, 1849, and 1850.

Comparative statement of the estimated value of the Exports and Imports of New Zealand during the years 1848, 1849 and 1850.

The Attorney General of New Zealand gave notice that on Tuesday next he should move further consideration, in committee, of Crown Lands Amendment Bill.

His Excellency then adjourned the Council at twenty minutes past four o’clock, to Tuesday next, the 15th day of July, at two o’clock.
