HIS EXCELLENCY the Lieutenant-Governor has been pleased to appoint

Mr. James Brown,
to be Assistant-Postmaster at Dunedin,
in the District of Otago, and

Mr. Lachlan Thomas Langlands,
to be Clerk in the Post Office at Port Chalmers, in the same District. Both appointments to bear date from the time of these officers entering upon their duties.

NOTICE is hereby given, that Francis Healy, Esquire,
of Wellington, in the Province of New Munster, has duly qualified as a Medical Practitioner under the Ordinance of the Provincial Council, passed on the 18th day of May, 1849, intituled an “Ordinance to define the qualifications and to provide for the remuneration in certain cases of Medical Practitioners,” Session I, No. 2.

NOTICE is hereby given, that a special Meeting of the Justices of the Peace for this District, will be held at this Court on Tuesday, the third day of September next, at 12 o’clock, for the purpose of considering applications for the transfer of Publicans Licences.

SUPREME COURT.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Sitting of the Supreme Court for the despatch of Criminal business will be holden at the Court House, Wellington, on Monday the second day of September next, at ten o’clock in the forenoon; and that a Sitting for the despatch of Civil business will be holden at the Court House on Saturday the 7th day of September next, at the hour of ten o’clock in the forenoon, at which times and place all persons under Recognizances to appear either as prosecutors, defendants, or witnesses are hereby required to give their attendance.

GUNPOWDER.

Ordnance Office,
Wellington, 20th August, 1850.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that all Private property Gunpowder deposited in Her Majesty’s Ordnance Magazine at Mount Cook, will be subject to the following rate of Store Rent, viz.:
Barrels containing 100lbs. and 50lbs. 2d. per week...
25lbs. ...1d.

Also, a charge of Five Shillings for the delivery of any quantity of Gunpowder at one time into the Magazine.
