From 1st to 30th April 13 9 8 17 The weather during this quarter has been more boisterous, and a larger quantity of rain has fallen than during the corresponding period of 1848. An unusually high tide was experienced on the morning of the 28th June, just previous to the setting in of a strong S.E. gale; the water on this occasion rose from 8 feet to eighteen inches above the ordinary spring tides. Earthquakes are still of frequent occurrence, but of a milder character.
