THE Superintendent directs it to be notified that it is intended, after the expiration of two months from the date hereof, to grant Leases for Gold-mining purposes of the Crown lands within the district of the Nelson South-west Goldfields herein-after described, viz :—

LYELL DISTRICT.

A block of land containing eight acres one rood twenty perches, more or less, situated on the north side of the Buller river, at the "Old Diggings," No. 773.

A block of land containing nine acres one rood fourteen perches, more or less, situated on the north side of the Buller River, at the "Old Diggings," No. 772.

INANGAHUA DISTRICT.

A block of land containing sixteen acres and two roods, more or less, situated at the head of German Jack\'s Gully, Murray Creek Reefs, No. 771.

The Nelson Provincial Council Buildings (depicted) were constructed beginning with the laying of the foundation stone on 26 August 1859, with the first Council meeting held there on 30 April 1861.

The buildings served Nelson for over a century before being demolished on 12 September 1969.
