PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor OSWALD CURTIS, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Colony of New Zealand, &c., &c.
WHEREAS by "The Protection of Animals Act, 1873," it is provided that no game shall be hunted, shot, taken, or killed in any Province, until the same shall have been proclaimed as open for that purpose: Now, therefore I, OSWALD CURTIS, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in exercise of the power and authority in me vested in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that Pheasants and Quail may be shot from the 15th day of May till the 30th day of June next, both days inclusive, by persons duly licensed under the above recited Act, in that part of the Province of Nelson included within the undermentioned boundaries, viz:β
Commencing at Wekakura Point, on the West Coast; thence by the boundary of the South-west Goldfields (gazetted June 8th, 1868, and February 9th, 1870), being a straight line from Wekakura Point to Mount Domett; thence by the watershed to Mount Arthur; thence to the saddle at the source of the Graham river; thence by the Graham river to the Motueka river; thence by the Motueka river to the division line between Sections 22 and 23, Square 5; thence to a point on the range found by producing the division line between these Sections westwardly; thence by the summit of the range to the junction of the rivers Hope and Buller; thence to the nearest peak of range forming the watershed, between the River Howard and Lake Rotoroa; thence along the top of the range to Mount Travers; thence along the top of the range to Mount Mackay and Mount Franklin; thence along the top of the range of the Spencer Mountains to Travers' Peak; thence following the watershed to the saddle between the heads of the Teremakau and Hurunui rivers; thence by the Hurunui river to the sea; thence by the sea coast to the mouth of the River Conway; thence by the boundary line between the Provinces of Nelson and Marlborough to Tennyson's Inlet; thence by the sea coast to the point of starting, being Wekakura Point on the West Coast.
Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province, at Nelson, this eighth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six.

LICENSES to Shoot Pheasants and Quail from the 15th May, instant, to the 30th June, proximo, may now be obtained at this Office, on Payment of a Fee of One Pound Sterling for each License.
