NOTICE is hereby given that the following Gold-mining Lease has been CANCELLED, viz:—

GREY DISTRICT.

Lease dated October 1, 1872, to James Anderson, of sixteen acres two roods and four perches (No. 67G).

I hereby signify my consent to the TRANSFER of the Protection for a Punt over the Inangahua River, originally granted to John Maunder Langdon, and published in the Nelson Government Gazette, No. 25, of the 19th July, 1872, from Edward Masters to Frederick Brandt.

WHEREAS by an Order bearing date the twenty-first day of January last, I did appoint the newspaper published at Ahaura called

THE GREY VALLEY TIMES,

to be a Gazette in Bankruptcy for the district in the same Order described, being part of the Judicial

District of Nelson : And whereas the said newspaper has ceased to be published : Now therefore, in exercise of the power in me for this purpose vested by the "Bankruptcy Act, 1867," and the "Bankruptcy Act Amendment Act, 1868," or otherwise howsoever, I do hereby rescind the said Order.

Given under my hand at Nelson this tenth day of February, 1874.

THE Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has approved of the following By-law made by the Motueka Highway District Board :—

BY-LAW.

By-law made by the Motueka Highway District Board for the Protection and Preservation of Roads and Drains in the said District.

If any horse, mule, ass, sheep, swine, or other beast or cattle of any kind, shall at any time after this by-law shall come into operation be found depasturing, whether under the tendence or control of any person or persons or not, in or upon any fenced road within the limits of the Motueka Highway District, or upon the sides of any such road, and thereby causing damage to any such road or to any ditch, bank, or fence thereof, the owner of every such horse, mule, ass, sheep, swine, or other beast or cattle, shall be deemed and taken to be guilty of a breach of this by-law, and shall for every such breach, upon conviction thereof, forfeit and pay a penalty of not exceeding ten shillings for each such animal so depasturing as aforesaid. Provided that no penalty upon any one such conviction shall exceed the sum of forty shillings.

Approved by the Superintendent and Executive Council, this eleventh day of February, 1874.
