PROCLAMATION.

By his Honor OSWALD CURTIS, Superintendent of
the Province of Nelson, in the Colony of New
Zealand, &c., &c.

WHEREAS by an Act passed by the Superin-
tendent and Provincial Council of the
Province of Nelson intituled "The Nelson Highways
Act 1872," it is, amongst other things, enacted that
for the purpose of electing members of the Board for
any district it shall be lawful for the Superintendent,
from time to time, if he shall think fit, by proclamation
in the Government Gazette, to divide any district or
districts into sub-districts, and to apportion the num-
ber of members for the whole district between such
sub-districts as he shall think proper : And whereas
a certain district has been constituted under the said
Act called the Upper Motueka District :

Now therefore, I, the Superintendent of the Pro-
vince of Nelson, pursuant to and in exercise of the
power and authority vested in me in that behalf by
the said recited Act, do hereby proclaim and declare
that the said district shall be divided into the follow-
ing sub-districts, that is to say :—

  1. Upper Motueka.
  2. Stanley Brook.

The boundaries of such sub-districts shall be as
follows :—

1.—UPPER MOTUEKA.

Commencing at the South-western angle of the
Pangatotara Road Board District, near the source of
the Baton River ; thence by the watershed to the
saddle between the sources of the rivers Wangapeka
and Karamea ; thence in a straight line to the junction
of the Hope Valley road with the North Buller road ;
thence by the watershed to the source of the river
Motupiko ; thence in a straight line to the South-
eastern angle of the Waimea District ; thence along
the South-western boundary of the Waimea District
to Nicholson's well, Spooner's Range ; thence along
the range between Stanley Brook and the river
Motueka to the boundary line between sections num-
bered 52 and 54 ; thence following that boundary line
