IT is hereby notified that the Superintendent has Refused to grant the undermentioned applications for Goldmining Leases, at the Inangahua District, the applicants having declined to the reduced areas proposed to be granted, viz:—

1. Application of Robert Doherty and others (Enterprise Company), for twelve acres, more or less, situated at Shield's line of reef, Murray Creek.

2. Application of James Coulahan and others (Phœnix Company), for sixteen and a half acres, more or less, situated north, and adjoining Clarke's lease, on Anderson's line of reef, Murray Creek.

3. Application of Michael Power and others (Albion Company), for sixteen acres, more or less, situated adjoining Mace's Claim, German Jack's Gully.

I, THE undersigned, PERCY WAKEFIELD, hereby make application to Register the RAINY CREEK QUARTZ-MINING COMPANY, REGISTERED, under the provisions of the Mining Companies Limited Liability Act, 1865, and the Mining Companies Limited Liability Act Amendment Acts, 1869, 1870, and 1871, and I do solemnly and sincerely declare that the following statement is, to the best of my belief and knowledge, true in every particular, namely:—

1. The name and style of the Company is the Rainy Creek Quartz-mining Company, Registered.

2. The place of operations is at Rainy Creek, in the Province of Nelson.

3. The nominal capital of the Company is Thirty thousand pounds in thirty thousand shares of one pound each.

4. The amount already paid up in cash is nil, in paid-up and partly paid-up shares is eighteen thousand pounds, being the estimated value of claim and work done.

5. The name of the Manager is Percy Wakefield.

6. The office of the Company is at Reefton, in the Province of Nelson.
