NELSON GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.

Nelson, 18th April, 1871.

NOTICE is hereby given, that in consequence of the ANNUAL RENT due on the several Leases specified below not having been paid within the period prescribed by "The Crown Lands (Nelson) Leasing Act, 1867," and thereby become forfeited, the said Leases will be OFFERED FOR SALE, by AUCTION, on SATURDAY, the 27th day of May next, at the CROWN LANDS OFFICE, NELSON, at Twelve o'clock, Noon.

The Nelson Provincial Council Buildings (depicted) were constructed beginning with the laying of the foundation stone on 26 August 1859, with the first Council meeting held there on 30 April 1861.

The buildings served Nelson for over a century before being demolished on 12 September 1969.
