2nd May, 1870.
PROTECTION is hereby granted until the 31st day of October next, under the provisions of the \"Goldfields Act, 1866,\" to John Maunder Langdon, for the right of ferrying across the Grey and Arnold Rivers for a distance of two miles from and above the junction of the said rivers; and he is hereby authorised to charge fares as per schedule on the following conditions:β

That good safe boats and competent ferrymen shall be at all times in attendance.

That all Government officers, including road overseers, postmen, and laborers, when on duty, shall be ferried across the rivers free of charge.

That the Warden of the district may, on being satisfied that the ferry is not conducted in an efficient manner, and in accordance with these conditions, suspend the operation of this protection until the matter of complaint be removed, and if the matter of complaint be not removed within a reasonable time, the Superintendent shall have power to cancel this protection.

That all regulations which may at any time be brought into force under section 13 of \"The Goldfields Act, 1866\" shall be deemed applicable to this license, as if it had been granted under the same.

That this protection shall not be transferred without the sanction of the Superintendent.

That this protection shall not affect the right of the Government to erect or grant protection for any bridge within the protected limits.
