THE DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT directs it to be notified, that in accordance with the Provisions of the "Education Act, 1863," he has appointed SATURDAY, the 4th day of September next, at Twelve o'clock, noon, for the election of a Local Committee of Education for the district of Dovedale, and that the election shall be held at the house of Mr. WILLIAM WIX, Dovedale.

IT is hereby notified that it is intended, after the expiration of Two Months from the date hereof, to Grant a Lease for Gold Mining Purposes of the Crown Land within the District of the Nelson South-West Goldfields, hereinafter described, viz:—
- A Block of Land, containing Two Acres Two Roods and Eight Perches, more or less, situated at Charleston Flat, Charleston, applied for by JAMES M'AULIFF, DANIEL HUGHES, and EDWARD M'CLUTCHIE.

I, THE undersigned JAMES WYLDE, hereby make application to Register "The Mawhera Quartz Mining Company," Registered, under the provisions of "The Mining Companies Limited Liability Act, 1865;" and I solemnly and sincerely declare that the following statement is, to the best of my belief and knowledge, true in every particular, namely:—

The name and style of the Company is the Mawhera Quartz Mining Company, (Registered).

The place of intended operations is at the Moonlight Creek, in the Nelson South-west Goldfields.

The nominal capital of the Company is two thousand one hundred pounds, in four hundred and twenty shares of five pounds each.

The amount already paid up is seventy pounds.

The name of the manager is JAMES WYLDE.

The office of the Company is in Mawhera Quay, Greymouth.
