NELSON GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.

THE GOVERNMENT WHARF will be let by
auction on MONDAY next, the 29th instant,
at Twelve o'clock, Noon, at the Land Office Nelson.

THE SUPERINTENDENT directs it to be
notified that the Wharfage and Storage to be
charged at the Government Wharf and Warehouse,
Haven-road, after the 31st March, 1869, shall not
exceed the following rates, viz :—

WHARFAGE.

Landing or Shipping Goods.

Vessels under 60 tons, or on Goods lightered from vessels in the stream, at per ton	0	1	0
Landing or Shipping New Zealand Produce	0	1	0

Baggage of Government immigrants	(free)

Goods re-shipped from Wharf or Warehouse

NOTE.—If any vessel lying alongside the wharf shall receive
or discharge any goods or stock otherwise than from or upon
the wharf, half wharfage shall be charged on all such goods or
stock so received or discharged.

STORAGE.

Any Coal or other Goods remaining on the platform more
than forty-eight hours after landing, to pay at the rate of One
shilling per ton for every week or part of a week.

The Nelson Provincial Council Buildings (depicted) were constructed beginning with the laying of the foundation stone on 26 August 1859, with the first Council meeting held there on 30 April 1861.

The buildings served Nelson for over a century before being demolished on 12 September 1969.
