Nelson, 4th March, 1868.
FREDERICK HALL is hereby authorised, under the provisions of Section XIII. of "The Goldfields' Act, 1866," to construct a track, commencing at Hall's Store, on the beach, near Charleston, and terminating at Brown's Terrace: length about two miles, and to charge for a period of six months, from 1st January, 1868, a toll of two shillings and sixpence on each horse, or head of large cattle; and sixpence on each sheep using the track, on the following conditions:β

That the track shall be at all times maintained in a good passable state of repair.

That any other person at any time, on payment of such proportionate share of the expense of construction and maintenance as may be estimated by valuation, to be equitable, may become a part proprietor in it.

That Government Officers on duty shall be exempt from tolls.

That nothing in this grant shall affect the right of the Government, to cut, or to grant protection for any other track.

That this protection shall not be transferred without the sanction of the Commissioner, or other Officer in charge of the Goldfields.
