PETER JAMES M'KENNA is hereby
authorised, under the provisions of
Section XIII. of the Goldfields Act, 1866,
to construct a track from the Plains at the
North end of Giles' Terrace, through the
bush, across Deadman's Creek, and up the
North bank of the Creek, being a distance
altogether of about a mile and a quarter to
the present workings in Deadman's Creek,
and to charge for a period of six months
from the 1st December, 1863, tolls accord-
ing to the Schedule on the following con-
ditions :—
-
That the track shall be maintained at
all times in a good state of repair. -
That any other person at any time on
payment of a proportionate share of
the construction of the track at a
valuation may become a part pro-
prietor in it. -
That this protection does not interfere
with any ground held under any
existing rights and privileges nor
prejudice the right of the Govern-
ment to cut any other track provided
that no protection shall be granted
for any other track to approach
nearer than one chain to this one. -
That all Government officers, including
road overseers and laborers and post-
men when on duty shall use the track
free of charge. -
That this protection shall not be trans-
ferred without the sanction of the
Warden of the District. -
That the Warden of the District shall,
on being satisfied that the track is
not in a good state of repair, or that
any of the above conditions have been
violated, have power to suspend the
operation of this license until the
matter of complaint be removed:—

this protection:—
For each horse ... 2 6
For each head of horned cattle ... 1 6
