All Public Notifications which appear in this Gazette, with any Official Signature thereunto annexed, are to be considered as Official Communications made to those Persons to whom they may relate, and are to be obeyed accordingly.

PROCLAMATION.

By his Honor ALFRED SAUNDERS, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Islands of New Zealand, &c., &c. &c.

WHEREAS, by an Act of the Imperial Parliament, passed in the Session holden in the fifteenth and sixteenth years of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, cap. 72, intituled "An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of any Province established by the said Act, by proclamation in the Government Gazette, to fix such place or places within the limits of the Province, and such times for holding any Session of the Provincial Council, as he may think fit, and from time to time in manner aforesaid to alter and vary such times and places as he may judge advisable and most consistent with general convenience:

Now therefore, I, the Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in pursuance of the power and authority in me vested, do hereby proclaim and appoint that the Provincial Council of Nelson, shall meet at the

PROVINCIAL HALL, NELSON,
on TUESDAY, the TWENTY-SECOND day of January instant, at 1 o'clock p.m.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province at Nelson, this Fourteenth day of January, in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven.

The Nelson Provincial Council Buildings (depicted) were constructed beginning with the laying of the foundation stone on 26 August 1859, with the first Council meeting held there on 30 April 1861.

The buildings served Nelson for over a century before being demolished on 12 September 1969.
