PROROGATION OF THE PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.

SPEECH of His Honor the Superintendent, on the Prorogation of the Sixteenth Session of the Nelson Provincial Council, on the 25th July, 1867.

MR. SPEAKER, AND GENTLEMEN OF THE PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.

I have assented, on behalf of His Excellency the Governor, to the following Acts which you have passed during the present Session :β€”

"An Act to Amend the Education Act, 1863."

"An Act to Amend the Law relating to the sale of Fermented and Spirituous Liquors."

"An Act to Regulate the sale of Fermented and Spirituous Liquors in the Gold-Fields of the Province of Nelson."

"An Act to Appropriate the Revenue of the Province of Nelson, for the Year ending the Thirty-first day of March, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight."

I have reserved, for the consideration of His Excellency the Governor, the following :β€”

"An Act to authorise the Superintendent to guarantee Interest upon the capital to be expended in the construction of a Patent Slip, or Dry Dock, at the Port of Nelson."

"An Act to promote the construction of a Railroad from Westport to Charleston and Brighton."

The Draft Bill to which you have agreed as a substitute for the Nelson Crown Lands Leasing Act, 1863, shall be introduced into the General Assembly; and I will endeavor, with the assistance of the other
