the Buller district. The same remark will apply to other portions of the gold-fields, and as it is impossible to give a list in detail of such works, it will be necessary as heretofore to vote the probable amount required in a lump sum.

In another report I have forwarded, for the information of his Honour the Superintendent, the probable amounts that will be required for the various public works in the Province for the ensuing year.

The Nelson Provincial Council Buildings (depicted) were constructed beginning with the laying of the foundation stone on 26 August 1859, with the first Council meeting held there on 30 April 1861.

The buildings served Nelson for over a century before being demolished on 12 September 1969.
