I, JOHN WALLIS BARNICOAT, Deputy
Superintendent of the Province of
Nelson, in exercise of the power and
authority vested in me in that behalf do
hereby proclaim and declare that the build-
ing now used as a Lockup, situated at the
Township of CHARLESTON, being within the
limits of the Nelson South-west Gold-fields,
shall be deemed and taken to be a PUBLIC
GAOL of the Colony of New Zealand.

Nelson, this Twenty-seventh day of
March, One Thousand Eight Hun-
dred and Sixty-seven.
