SIR,—In compliance with the requirements of the Provincial Audit Act of the General Assembly, 1861, I have the honor to forward herewith, copies of the Provincial Treasurer's Quarterly and Yearly Statements, for the financial year ending March 31st, 1866, with the certificates as to the correctness of the same endorsed on each of the said copies.

I also enclose a detailed account of the expenditure, under the head of "Miscellaneous," and a statement of Assets and Liabilities of the Province at the present date.

In accordance with the resolutions of the Council passed last session, I shall mention under the different departments any officers employed who may have been in receipt of salaries other than those directly voted in the Appropriation Act; and the Council will also see, by a reference to the Comparative Statement, that their opinion with respect to the over-expenditure of any of the votes, has been attended to; no excess of expenditure having been put down to "Miscellaneous Account."

I have examined and found correct the accounts of the Immigration Commissioners, whose books show a balance in hand of £2,315 19s. 1d. The sum of £923 14s. 3d. has been received during the last year from Immigrants on account of assisted passages, leaving an amount of £6,126 9s. 5d. still due to the Commissioners from various persons and their sureties.
