The Provincial Council, Nelson.
SIR,—I have the honor to forward herewith, in accordance with the requirements of the Provincial Audit Act of the General Assembly of 1861, the usual copies of the Quarterly and Yearly Accounts of the Provincial Treasurer for the financial year ending March 31, 1865, with the certificates as to the correctness of the same endorsed on the face of each respectively.
I also inclose a statement of the Assets and Liabilities of the Province, dated March 31, 1865, and a detailed statement of the expenditure under the head of "Miscellaneous," for the past financial year.
The Immigration Accounts have been audited and found correct, and show a balance to the credit of the Treasurer of the sum of £1,419 18s. The books of the Secretary show a sum total of £6,688 13s. 8d. due and coming due to the Commissioners, for passage money by Immigrants and their securities.
The Government Store Account has been diminished lately by the sale of a considerable number of working bullocks, &c., which have been sold without entailing any loss on the Government. The estimated value of the cattle and stores remaining amounts to £1,087.
The following statement may be of service in showing the decrease or increase of the different items of Provincial Revenue for the financial years ending March 31st, 1863, 1864, and 1865.
