HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified, that he has been pleased to appoint the undermentioned persons Inspectors of Sheep, under the "Scab Act, 1863," viz.:—

Chief Inspector,
Mr. FRANK NAIRN, Nelson.

Deputy-Inspectors,
Mr. ROBERT C. PASLEY, Amuri.
Mr. THOMAS NEWTON, Nelson.

THE particular attention of Owners of Sheep in the Province of Nelson is called to the following section of the "Scab Act, 1863."

Section 29.—"Every owner of sheep shall, in the month of January in each year, make a return to the Inspector for the district of the number of sheep and lambs in his charge, in the said Province, on the First of January in such year; and any person failing to make such return, or knowingly making any false return, shall for each such offence be liable to a penalty of any sum not exceeding Fifty pounds. And every such owner shall, in the month of February in each year, pay or cause to be paid to the Treasurer of the Province the sum of One half-penny per head for every sheep in his charge upon the First day of January in such year, and in default thereof the same may be sued for in the name of any Inspector of Sheep, and recovered in a summary manner before any two Justices of the Peace, and the proof of the number of such sheep shall rest with the defendant."
