Penalty for Breach of Regulations.—Every person committing any breach, whether of omission or commission, of any of the above Rules and Regulations will be liable to the penalties set forth in section 32 of the "Gold-fields Act, 1862," viz.:—"for the first offence, a fine of any sum not exceeding Ten pounds; and for the second or any subsequent offence, not exceeding Twenty pounds."

The Nelson Provincial Council Buildings (depicted) were constructed beginning with the laying of the foundation stone on 26 August 1859, with the first Council meeting held there on 30 April 1861.

The buildings served Nelson for over a century before being demolished on 12 September 1969.
