IN conformance with the provisions of the "Nelson Trust Funds Act, 1854," the following Report, as adopted by the Trustees of the Nelson Trust Funds, is published for general information.

ANNUAL REPORT OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE NELSON TRUST FUNDS FOR THE YEAR ENDING 1st DECEMBER, 1859.
The duties of the Trustees during the past year having been chiefly of a routine character, their report is necessarily a brief one, and involves no subjects of especial interest.
The Reserved Religious Fund, having been increased by the sum of £130 12s. 6d., received for interest during the year, now amounts to £1,618 7s. 6d.
The Steam Navigation Fund remains unaltered.
From the Reserved Fund the following appropriations have been made, namely:—
The sum of £300, advanced to the Trustees of the Nelson Institute for the term of seven years, without interest, to be expended in the establishment of a public Museum and of Lecture and Class Rooms, to be open to the masters and pupils of the College, and to the members of all other Institutes in the province, upon the same conditions of admission as to the members of the Nelson Institute;
the sum of £50, remitted to England, for the purchase of a cabinet of specimens illustrative of the sciences of geology and mineralogy, which, it is hoped, will prove a valuable assistant in the investigation of the physical characteristics of the province, and in the development of its mineral resources; the sum of £100, remitted to England, to procure philosophical instruments and apparatus, for the use of lecturers upon scientific subjects, to be placed, together with the cabinet of specimens, at the disposal of the Governors of Nelson College, with the understanding that they are to be used by the Nelson Institute upon all reasonable occasions; and may remain in the building of that body so long as they are properly looked after and preserved from injury.
Subjoined is the annual financial statement for the year 1859.
