HIS Honour the superintendent directs it
to be notified, that he has appointed
MR. THOMAS SULLIVAN
to be Registrar of Brands and Marks under the
provisions of the "Cattle Branding Act, 1858,"
for the districts of Wairau, Amuri, and Mas-
sacre Bay; and that the said Thomas Sullivan
is now ready to proceed to the discharge of his
duties.

NOTICE is hereby given that within FOUR
CALENDAR MONTHS from the date
hereof every owner, or his duly-authorized
agent, of Cattle must forward to this Office a
description of any Cattle belonging to him
that may be depasturing on any unenclosed
land in the Districts of WAIRAU, AMURI, and
MASSACRE BAY, stating their numbers, and,
as far as possible, the marks or brands upon
them; and, at the same time, a fac simile, or
accurate description of the mark or brand
which he has been in the habit of using; and
in case of more than one mark or brand having
been used, an accurate description of each of
them.
Further, that every owner of Cattle, or his duly
authorized agent, will, upon application to me,
be supplied with a pattern of a mark or brand;
and, in the event of the brand or mark assigned
being a new one, as soon as it has been made,
and before it is used, it will be the duty of the
owner thereof, or his duly authorized agent, to
deliver it to me, in order that an accurate im-
pression may be taken thereof; and, in case of
the branding or mark instrument already
used by the owner being assigned to him, it
will be the duty of the owner thereof, or his
duly authorized agent, to deliver it to me for
the aforesaid purpose.
Lastly, that, after the expiration of eight
calendar months from this date, it will
not be lawful for any person to brand or mark
any Cattle save with such mark or brand as
shall be approved of and authorized by me as
provided by the "Cattle Branding Act, 1858;"
and after the expiration of nine calendar
months from the date hereof, the owner of any
Cattle not depastured upon enclosed lands,
and not branded or marked with a registered
brand or mark, will be liable to a penalty.

Regulations of the 1st of July, 1856, received by the
Commissioner of Crown Lands to the 30th June,
1859:—

the estimated quantity formerly
applied for by F. W. Trolove,
after the survey within his
boundaries.

Thomas Carter : District—The Clarence Valley,
including the valley of the Styx
and the valley of the Leader-
dale, up to Lake Tennyson.
Estimated extent—10,000 acres.

Charles Thorp : District—
Bounded on the north by the
southern boundaries of Messrs.
Kelling\'s, Russell\'s, and Myer\'s
runs; east, by Dr. Robertson\'s
western boundary; west, back
of Mr. Schroder\'s run and
Wairau Gorge; south, Mr.
Saxton\'s northern boundary.
Estimated extent—20,000 acres.
Deposit paid—£30.
Wm. Morrison : District—Wairau.
On the hills north of the reserve
known as the Top House Re-
serve; bounded on the south
by the Reserve; east, by the
western boundary of Messrs.
Robinson and Renwick\'s run;
northward, by a wooded gully
in the back range of moun-
tains; westward, by the Big
Bush.
Estimated extent—8,000 acres.
Deposit paid—£15.
