ELECTION OF ONE MEMBER FOR PROVINCIAL COUNCIL FOR THE DISTRICT OF MASSACRE BAY.

PROVINCE OF NELSON, TO WIT.

WHEREAS a WRIT, under the hand of HIS HONOUR JOHN PERRY ROBINSON, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, bearing date the Fourteenth day of July, 1858, hath been directed to me, JOHN POYNTER, Esquire, Resident Magistrate, and Principal Returning Officer for the Province of Nelson, requiring and commanding me to cause to be ELECTED, by and from amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, ONE PERSON, to serve as MEMBER for the MASSACRE BAY DISTRICT, in the place of William Robert Nicholson, resigned:

Now, therefore, I, the said John Poynter, do hereby, in pursuance of the said Writ, give notice that I appoint MONDAY, the Sixteenth day of August next, at noon, at the School-house, Motupipi, for the Nomination of one person to serve as member as aforesaid. And in the event of a poll being demanded, the POLLING to take place at the said School-house, and at the Court-house, COLLINGWOOD, on MONDAY, the Twenty-third day of August next. The polling to commence at Ten o'clock in the forenoon, and close at Four o'clock in the afternoon of the said day.
