SEALED TENDERS will be received at
this Office until MONDAY, the 22nd in-
stant, from persons desirous of contracting to
execute the under-mentioned SERVICES, viz.:—

Tenders.

Rations are to be sent to the Hospital and
Gaol as required.

vered.

APPLICATIONS FOR DEPASTURAGE LI-
CENSES, in accordance with the Land
Regulations of July 1, 1856, received by the
Commissioner of Crown Lands during the
month of May, 1857.

Joseph Ward District—The Clarence; on the south side of the Clarence river. Bounded on the East by the River Tytler, on the West by the River Gore, on the South by the Kaikoras, on the North by the River Clarence. Estimated extent—Ten thousand acres. Deposit—£15.

Survey Office, Nelson,
9th June, 1857.

I, THE undersigned, THOMAS BRUN-
NER, of the Town of Nelson, in the Province
of Nelson, New Zealand, Principal Surveyor, hereby
give Notice
, that I intend to APPLY to two or more
Justices of the Peace, having jurisdiction in the said
province, at a Meeting to be held on MONDAY, the
27th July now next, at the Court House, Nelson, for
an ORDER for STOPPING UP and DIVERTING
the under-mentioned ROADS. And I hereby give
further notice that I will cause survey-plans of the
roads proposed to be stopped up, and of the roads
proposed to be substituted for the same, together with
the books of reference, to be deposited with the Clerk
to the Magistrates, with Mr. THOMAS FAGAN, of
Nelson, Chief Constable for the districts of Suburban
North and South; and with Mr. STANTON, of Rich-
mond, for the district of Waimea East:—

To stop up a road in the district of Suburban
North, through Section numbered 27, commencing
at the main line of road through Happy Valley,
and proceeding about 14 chains in a southerly
direction, and thence about 13 chains in an easterly
direction, crossing the Happy Valley stream, and
terminating at the road leading to Mr. Close's.
Also to stop up part of a certain other road
branching out of the aforesaid, near to the house
of Mr. Blanchett, and running in a south-easterly
direction for about 7 chains, and terminating
where the road proposed to be substituted joins
the road leading up the valley of the river Lud.

And to substitute in the place thereof a certain
other road, 60 links in width, through the afore-
said Section numbered 27, commencing at the
main line and at the same point as the first-named
road, and proceeding in an easterly direction
