PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor EDWARD WILLIAM STAFFORD, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Islands of New Zealand.
WHEREAS, by an Act passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Nelson, in Session III., No. 2, intituled "The Education Act, 1856," it is amongst other things enacted, that for the purposes of that Act it should be lawful for the Superintendent to constitute within the province Educational Districts: Now therefore I, the SUPERINTENDENT of the Province of Nelson, do hereby proclaim and constitute the following districts for the purposes of the said in part recited Act; that is to sayβ
THE TOWN OF NELSON.
Bounded on the north, north-east, east, and south-east by the district of Suburban North; on the south-west by the district of Waimea East; on the west partly by the district of Waimea East and partly by the sea.
THE SUBURBAN NORTH DISTRICT.
Bounded on the north-west and north by the sea, from the boundary of the town of Nelson to the mouth of the river Wangamoa; on the east and south-east partly by the river Wangamoa, from the sea to a point four-and-a-half miles up the river, and partly by a line from the last-named point running twelve miles in the direction of the mud-hut in the Motupiko valley; on the south-west and west by the districts of Waimea East and town of Nelson.
WAIMEA EAST DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the north-east by the town of Nelson and by the district of Suburban North; thence on the south-easts by a straight line in continuation of the south-eastern boundary of the district of Suburban North for a distance of ten miles; thence, on the south-west by a straight line running at right angles to the last line until it cuts the Wairoa river; on the west thence by the Wairoa and Waimea rivers to the north-east corner of Section No. 2, Waimea West; and on the north by the district of Waimea West as far as the north-east corner of Rural Section No. 1, Waimea Islands; thence by a line across the mud-flat to the western extremity of the Quarantine Ground, and thence by the sea to the town of Nelson where the north-east boundary commences.
