PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor EDWARD WILLIAM STAFFORD, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Islands of New Zealand.

WHEREAS, by an Act made and enacted in the Parliament holden in the fifteenth and sixteenth years of the reign of her Majesty Queen Victoria, intituled "An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent to prorogue the Provincial Council, whenever he shall deem it expedient so to do:

Now therefore I, the SUPERINTENDENT of the Province of Nelson, do hereby proclaim and declare that, pursuant to the authority in me vested in that behalf by the said recited Act, I have this day prorogued the Provincial Council of Nelson.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the province, at Nelson, this Eighth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified, for general information, that he has given his assent to the following Acts passed by the Provincial Council, entitled respectively:β€”

An Act to provide for the Appointment of a Secretary for the Province.

An Act to promote Education in the Province of Nelson.

An Act to provide for the Improvement of the Town of Nelson.

An Act to provide for the making and maintaining of Roads and other Public Works in the Province of Nelson.

An Act to authorize the Superintendent to Sell and Lease certain Lands granted for Public Purposes in the Town of Nelson.

An Act to appropriate the Revenue of the Province of Nelson, for the Year ending the thirty-first day of December, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six.

An Act to provide for the efficient Branding and Marking of Cattle.
