SEALED TENDERS will be received at this
Office, until Monday, the 23rd instant, from
Persons desirous of executing by CONTRACT any of
the undermentioned SERVICES, during the Six
Months ending the 31st December, 1856:—

For supplying Rations and other Stores to the
Gaol and Lock-up.
Also, Rations to the Hospital and Destitute Poor.
Also, Stationery to the several Government Offices.
Also, Printing and Advertising.
Also, Oil and Wick for the Port Lamp.

Samples of Rations and Stationery will be required
to be left at this Office with the Tenders, and the
rations are to be sent to the Hospital and Gaol
weekly.

Further particulars can be obtained on application
to this Office.

I, THE undersigned GEORGE EDWARDS,
of the Town of Nelson, Province of Nel-
son, Farmer, hereby give Notice that I intend
to apply to two or more Justices of the Peace
having jurisdiction in the said Province, on
WEDNESDAY, the Thirtieth day of July, now
next ensuing, at the Court House, Nelson, for
an order to stop up the under-mentioned
Road: And I hereby give further Notice that
I have caused a Survey Plan of such Road, and
an estimate of the expense of such work, to
be deposited with the CLERK to the MAGIS-
TRATES at Nelson, and with Mr. THOMAS
FAGAN, of Nelson, Constable, that is to
say—

A certain Road in the said Town of Nelson,
leading from Grattan-street, in a westerly
direction, to the Maitai River; bounded
on the north by Town Section No. 187,
on the east by Grattan-street, and on the
south-west by the Maitai River.

under Ordinances No. 16, Session VIII., and

Colonial Bank of Issue,
Wellington, 22nd March, 1856.

The sum of Twenty-five Thousand Pounds
(£25,000) sterling has been invested under
the warrant of his Excellency the Governor,
in the public funds in England, through the
Commissariat Department, by arrangements
made through the Lords Commissioners of
her Majesty's Treasury.
