Nelson, November 9, 1855.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified for general information, that Writs for the election of Members of the Provincial Council, for the under-mentioned districts in the Province of Nelson, having been issued, in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the Imperial Parliament, intituled "An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand," and of an Act of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the said province, intituled "An Ordinance to increase the number of Members of the Provincial Council, and to alter the Electoral Districts of the Province of Nelson, Session II., No. 7," the Returning Officers for the said several districts have returned the said Writs, with certificates to the effect that the under-mentioned gentlemen have been duly elected to serve as members of the said Provincial Council, for the said several districts, viz.:—

For the Town of Nelson—
JOHN POYNTER;
For the Motueka District—
THOMAS JACKA.

Nelson, November 9, 1855.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified for general information, that a Writ for the election of two Trustees of the Nelson Trust Funds having been issued, in accordance with the provisions of the Nelson Trust Funds Act, 1854, the Returning Officer has returned the said Writ, with a certificate to the effect that the under-mentioned gentlemen have been duly elected Trustees of the said Trust Funds:—

JOHN DAMFORTH GREENWOOD, of Motueka;
JOHN WALLIS BARNICOAT, of Waimea East.

Nelson, November 9, 1855.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified, in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of Nelson, Session II., No. 5, intituled "An Ordinance to provide for the Protection of Roads," that it is intended to proclaim that the provisions of the third clause of the above-mentioned Ordinance shall come into operation in the following districts, viz.:—

  1. The Hundred of Nelson;
  2. The Hundred of Waimea East;

as the said Hundreds are defined in a Proclamation of His Excellency the Officer administering the Government, dated at Auckland on the 16th day of November, 1854, published in the New Zealand Government Gazette of the 17th of November, 1854, No. 38.
