PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor EDWARD WILLIAM STAFFORD, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Islands of New Zealand.

WHEREAS, by an Act passed by the General Assembly of New Zealand, entitled "The Nelson Trust Funds Act, 1854," it is amongst other things enacted, That when and so often as any vacancy shall occur in the Board of Trustees, the remaining or continuing Trustees shall signify the same to the Superintendent, and the Superintendent shall, by proclamation in the Government Gazette of the said Province of Nelson, appoint some day (not being less than thirty nor more than sixty days after the date of such notice), on which day some person or persons duly qualified and registered, as provided by the said Act, shall be elected to fill such vacancy:

And whereas the said Board of Trustees have signified to me, the said Superintendent, that two vacancies have occurred in the said Board of Trusteesβ€”one by the death of Alfred Christopher Picard, Esquire, and another in consequence of the non-attendance of William Oldfield Cautley, Esquire, at the said Board for six months, without leave of absence:

Now, therefore, I, the said Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in pursuance of the powers and authority vested in me by the said in part recited Act, and under and by virtue of all other powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim, and appoint that the election of two persons to fill up the said vacancies in the said Board of Trustees, shall take place at the Court House, Nelson, on Tuesday, the Sixth day of November next, at noon.

Given under my hand, at Nelson aforesaid, this second day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-five.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified, that claims to the right of voting at the Election of Members of the Board of Trustees, or of Auditors, of the Nelson Trust Funds, will be received throughout the month of October instant, at any of the following places, viz:β€”

The Resident Magistrate's Office, Nelson,
or at the House of
Mr. WILLIAM STANTON, Richmond,
Mr. THOMAS ANDREWS, Waimea South,
Mr. JOHN BOYES, Motueka.

Every such claim shall be in writing, and shall be signed by the claimant or by some person in his name, and on his behalf, and shall state the place of abode and calling or business of the claimant, and where the property or holding is situated in respect of which such claim may be made, and the number of acres comprised within such property or holding, and the number of votes claimed, and whether the claim is made as owner or occupier.
