Nelson, August 16, 1855.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to
be notified, for general information,
that a Writ for the election of a Member of
the Provincial Council, for the undermentioned
district, in the Province of Nelson, having
been issued, in accordance with the provisions
of an Act to grant a Representative Constitu-
tion to the Colony of New Zealand, the Re-
turning Officer for the said district has returned
the said Writ, with a certificate to the effect
that the undermentioned gentleman has been
duly elected to serve as a Member for the said
district, viz.:—

For the Motueka and Massacre Bay Dis-
tricts—EDWARD FEARON, of Motueka,
farmer.

be notified, for general information,
that Writs for the election of Members of the
Provincial Council, for the undermentioned
districts, in the Province of Nelson, having
been issued, in accordance with the provisions
of an Act of the Imperial Parliament, intituled
"An Act to grant a Representative Constitu-
tion to the Colony of New Zealand," and of
an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Pro-
vincial Council of the said Province, intituled
"An Ordinance to increase the Number of
Members of the Provincial Council, and to
alter the Electoral Districts of the Province of
Nelson, Session II., No. 7," the Returning
Officers for the said several districts have re-
turned the said Writs, with certificates to the
effect that the undermentioned gentlemen have
been duly elected to serve as Members of the
Provincial Council, for the said several
districts, viz.:—

For the Suburban Districts—
WILLIAM WELLS, WILLIAM WASTNEY.
For the Waimea East District—
STEPHEN LUNN MULLER, THOMAS
BUTLER.
For the Waimea South District—
ALFRED SAUNDERS.
For the Motueka District—
ALFRED CHRISTOPHER PICARD.
For the Massacre Bay District—
JOHN PERRY ROBINSON.

pleased to direct that the Accounts of
the Receipts and Expenditure of the public
moneys of the Province, from the 1st day of
January to the 30th day of June, 1855, be
submitted to the Board of Audit, on Friday,
the 31st day of August instant.

NOTICE.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, May 2, 1855.

NOTICE is hereby given, that, in order to
put a stop, as much as possible, to the
evil of drunkenness amongst the native popu-
lation, his Excellency the Officer administering
the Government has been pleased to notify,
that the whole penalty which may be inflicted
for a breach of the "Sale of Spirits Ordinance,"
is to be handed over to the informer.

July 25, 1855.

HIS Excellency the Officer administering
the Government directs it to be notified
for general information, in consequence of the
great increase lately in the quantity of Arms
and Ammunition of various descriptions
brought into the Colony, and the great
danger there is of these articles falling into
the hands of the Natives, that no License will
be granted in future for the importation of
Arms and Ammunition of any kind, except
under very special circumstances.
