All Public Notifications which appear in this Gazette, with any Official Signature thereunto annexed, are to be considered as Official Communications made to those Persons to whom they may relate, and are to be obeyed accordingly.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor EDWARD WILLIAM STAFFORD, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Islands of New Zealand.

I, THE SUPERINTENDENT of the Province of Nelson, do hereby proclaim that the Allotments of Land specified in the accompanying Schedule will be put up to Auction, at the Crown Land Office, Nelson, on Monday, the 1st day of October, 1855, at Twelve o'clock.

Ten per cent. of the Purchase-money may be deposited at the Sale, and the remainder paid within one Month, or the Deposit forfeited.

Given under my hand, at Nelson, in the Province of Nelson aforesaid, this Sixteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-five.

The Nelson Provincial Council Buildings (depicted) were constructed beginning with the laying of the foundation stone on 26 August 1859, with the first Council meeting held there on 30 April 1861.

The buildings served Nelson for over a century before being demolished on 12 September 1969.
